#6 Monsanto Monopoly

How do you feel about eating a tomato that has been crossed with flounder DNA? I don't know about you but the thought leaves me a little unsettled. So many questions arise in my mind, but the main one: "Could this be safe?" Thats the worst part, no one knows, because no one has studied the long term effects of genetically engineered crops. Monsanto is in search of a monopoly, and if the public doesnt become aware of this the corporation will succeed. The Monsanto company is falsley advertising what they are. They simply say they support the all american, local farmer and advertise as if they are the local farmers when in reality they are suing and taking everything these farmers have. Not only does the Monsanto Company mass produce and genetically modify crops, they sell  the herbacide known as RoundUp. The worst part is the company sending their biotechnologists out on other peoples land and testing their product to see if it contains traces of their herbacide and then suing them for everything they have for not paying them for using their herbacide. Monsanto is a terrible company and the worst part is how much we support them. From now on I will support my local farmers market to avoid giving any of my money to such a corrupted company.

#5 Because I show my cleavage I am a SLUT

When a police officer made the statement "women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized."  A protest/movement that became known as SlutWalks began. At first SlutWalks were protrayed as being inappropriate protests when the media got involved. Just like most things from the media, the information delieved to the people was skewed. Sure, some people dressed in what society views as slutty attire during the walk but that is just what the media chose to share with the public. When the author of the article arrived at a SlutWalk she noticed that not only are there people dressed vunlerable but normal and not only are their normal people but there are children. Men, woman and children supporting this cause. What mother would take their child somewhere dangerous or inappropriate? Very few. The point of a SlutWalk is to send the message that just because a girl dresses in what I believe is vulnerable attire, not slutty attire, doesnt put them at a higher risk to be raped than someone who is in jeans and a t shirt. Girls should be able to dress and express themselves as they wish, without being put at risk to be sexually harrassed, assaluted, or raped.

But, thats not all, another reason for the SlutWalk is to reclaim the word slut. Supporters of the SlutWalk want to give a more positive meaning to the word, not such a derogatory word that means someone who has multiple sexual partners outside of marriage.
